Here’s what you must know before starting tirzepatide:

❌ 01. People allergic to tirzepatide or its components

If you have a history of serious allergic reactions (e.g. anaphylaxis, severe rash, breathing difficulties) to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, do not use this medication.

❌ 02. Patients with a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)

Animal studies showed an increased risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. Do NOT use tirzepatide if you:

Have medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)

Have a family history of MTC

Have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)

❌ 03. History of pancreatitis

Tirzepatide may increase the risk of acute pancreatitis. People with a history of pancreatitis should consult their doctor and evaluate risks before using it.

❌ 04. Severe gastrointestinal diseases

If you suffer from:

Gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying)

Severe peptic ulcers

Intestinal obstruction

Persistent nausea or vomiting

Tirzepatide is not recommended.

❌ 05. Pregnant or breastfeeding women

There is insufficient research to confirm its safety in pregnancy. Animal studies indicate potential fetal risks.

Planning pregnancy? Stop using tirzepatide at least one month before conception.

Pregnant or breastfeeding? Avoid using unless clearly advised by your doctor.

❌ 06. Type 1 diabetes patients

Tirzepatide is not approved for type 1 diabetes, as it does not replace insulin therapy.

❌ 07. Patients with severe renal impairment

Mild to moderate kidney impairment may allow cautious use. However, end-stage renal disease (ESRD) or dialysis patients require strict medical evaluation before considering tirzepatide.
